MY Nan NANA BANNER we called her, and only a happy child-like mind could have invented such a term of endearment. Not every one is blessed with knowing their Nan for what ever the reason. Not every one is blessed with such a Nan, as she was to me. There are so many memories, so many stories and she had so many attributes it has been difficult to highlight just a few. Nan would have had no such problem, Nan could tell stories and talk for England, Just one of her many fortes. My favourite story Nan would tell would have to be the one when I was born , well it would have to be wouldn’t it. She told it bursting with pride and recounted every minute detail even down to the colour of the cups & saucers the tea was poured into for the doctor. Her story telling was unique and as a child I would hang on to her every word. When I think of my Nan I recall fun, laughter, happiness and joy. My boyish days spent with Nan are treasured memories, only she could supply sugar, treacle and dripping sandwiches and her unique ways of keeping me and my siblings occupied for hours and hours. Oh Happy Days. Nan’s story telling, sense of humour and laughter I will miss, along with all the other things I associate with her. To me, my Nan, throughout her life, was like a U.S. Marine. Whatever life threw at her, she would, “improvise, adapt and overcome”. If she had been a Marine, for sure, at 93, she would have been a 5 star General! Finally to me, the prettiest woman that ever walked in Cheshunt, was MY Nan
